1882’de Dublin’de doğdu. Değişik anlatım özelliklerinden esinlenerek oluşturduğu bilinç akışı tekniğiyle 20. yüzyıl edebiyatını büyük ölçüde etkiledi. Hemen hemen bütün yapıtlarında esin kaynağı ve hammadde olarak doğduğu ve büyüdüğü Dublin’i kullandı. 1941’de Zürih’te öldü.
