Özgeçmişi

İstanbul’da doğdu. Dil öğrenimini, Londra’daki School of Oriental Studies’de Farsça ve Arapça öğrenerek geliştirdi. Büyük İskender olayının İslamiyet içinde yer alan biçimleri üzerine yaptığı araştırmayla doktorasını verdi. 1947’de öğrenciyken katıldığı BBC’de on dört yıl boyunca Türkçe Yayınlar bölümünün yöneticiliğinde bulundu. Burada Güney Avrupa ve Fransızca Yayınlar Müdürüyken 1986’da emekliye ayrıldı. O günden bu yana, bütün çalışmalarını Türkiye’yle ilgili konularda araştırmalara ayırıyor. Sık sık Türkiye’yi ziyaret eden Andrew Mango Londra’da oturuyor. Mango’nun, Türkiye’yle ilgili ilk yazısı 1957 yılında Political Quarterly adlı dergide yayınlandı.
