SO, WHY IS CHESS WANTED TO BE PROHIBITED?
There is a misconception in the world and many people to attribute this only to the bigotry of the Moslem clergy. However, in our article, it’s possible to see the desire of some Jewish and Christian clergy to ban chess. We find the answer much earlier. For instance, one of the ancient Chinese thinkers, Lao Tzu (604 BC-531 BC), emphasized an ignorant society could be governed much more easily. Although time and place have changed, this golden rule has been the basic practice doctrine of cruel governments and the clergy in cooperation with them in all periods. Let me convey to you another interesting incident. As a result of long-term efforts, the West German Chess Federation was able to receive financial support from the Ministry of Finance, by allowing it to be recognized as “chess, a useful sport with moral importance” in 1982. In the petition submitted to the Ministry, Federation officials wrote the following idea of the Prussian ruler Frederick the Great (1712-1786), who holds an important place in German history; “Chess encourages people to think freely.” It’s a known thing and of course there’ll be those who ask what it’s all about. It’s here that the Federation officials deceivingly cut through the idea of Frederick the Great. That is because, in continuing with his thinking, the Prussian king goes on to say, “This is why chess should be banned, or at least discouraged from being played.”
The examples in the article prove that bigotry generates mischief not only with a certain place, ideology or belief, but also as an updated state of cognition at all times and places. Moreover, chess has been the common target of unqualified power and bigoted clergy throughout history, precisely because it is the symbol of FREE THINKING, CURRENT PERSPECTIVE and DEEP INTELLIGENCE. And it shall remain that way until the end of time.
