Development in digital technologies changed the way information is generated and communicated to the others in all domains of social life. The most significant impact of digitalization has been on education owing to digital instruments which altered the nature of educational practices drastically. The outbreak of the pandemic fostered and accelerated the integration of digital technologies into the educational ecosystems and with the boost of digital technologies, digital skills and competences became the most significant priorities of 21st century. Shareholders of educational institutions had to equip themselves with essential skills and competences to optimize the use and benefits of digital technologies applied in educational contexts. Keeping pace with the latest developments in digital technologies has been perceived as a significant priority for educational institutions, which paved the way for digital transformation in education. Digital transformation contributed to educational practices in such ways as providing adaptability and flexibility, individualization of learning, real time continuous feedback and self-directed learning. This study aims at presenting a consistent and comprehensive view for the phenomenon of digital transformation in education.
