To see the most beautiful view of nature, you need to climb the highest hill. As you rise above the ground, your perspective expands and you can see more of the landscape and more of the beauty. You can be satisfied with what you see, turn back, or stay there. But you won’t be able to see the most beautiful view. If you want to see the best, you have to rise higher and higher until you reach the top. It is the same in the human life scenario, which consists of living, loving, learning and leaving a mark. In order to experience the good, the beautiful and the more beautiful, it is necessary to constantly make efforts and raise the level.
You know most of what I’m going to say here. However, I try to make people realize the benefits of planning in old age and the effects of making choices by considering and seeing the outcome. I developed a model of aging and called it the Wise Aging Model. This model reveals what an elderly person should do in his life journey, based on his own internal dynamics and his own sphere of influence, according to the rules of the Information Age. I also presented you a map in the book: The Road Map of Old Age. I think if you decide where you are on this map while reading the book, you will make a good evaluation for yourself.
I discussed the book in three parts. In the first part, I examined aging and restructuring in the Information Age. I devoted the second part to renewal studies in four dimensions. I brought suggestions for working out suitable for the elderly, especially in exercise and sports. I explained what to do in the first part and how to do it in the second part. In the last chapter, I told the founding story of the 60+ Rejuvenation University, which I was a source of inspiration for and in which I was proud to take part in its establishment, and the Wise Elderly Compound, which I developed as a model of housing and survival for the elderly. Since I chose everyone who is literate as the readership, I tried to use a language that the reader could easily understand. I included myself in the narrative and used the word “we” more. I tried to explain the topics with Turkish words as much as I could find the equivalents.
Our country has been aging rapidly since the last quarter of the twentieth century, and this aging will continue to accelerate in the coming years. Precautions must be taken to prevent the increasing health, care, protection and housing expenses of the elderly population from adversely affecting the life of the country. I think that a comprehensive preparatory work should be carried out so that the elderly, who have realized these days and handed over their duties to the young people to realize the future, can obtain the place and value they deserve in society, protect and improve their standard of living and continue their lives with life satisfaction. Scientists and non-governmental organizations carry out comprehensive and devoted studies in this field, but they can only reach a very small portion of the elderly population
In order to reach the entire elderly population and program their future, state institutions, local governments, universities and non-governmental organizations should come together under the coordination of the ministry responsible for the family, and a comprehensive study should be initiated, including elderly representatives; Preparations should be made by meeting at a common point, a road map should be prepared and solutions to possible future problems should be found. If we do not do these, the problems of old age grow and grow and become the main problem of society. But old age is not a problem. What needs to be done is to start this work as soon as possible under the guidance of scientists. Social aging is far too significant and important to be taken lightly. No political, religious, ethnic and institutional structure alone can overcome the problems that social aging will pose. If all stakeholders can work collaboratively in this field, a significant investment will be made in the future of our aging Turkey.
